Loss
Prevention
Arocon's loss prevention
program focuses on losses from both internal
and external sources. While most business implement
measures to prevent external theft, many fail
to implement measures to deal effectively with
internal theft -- which accounts for almost
half of all such losses. In many cases, because
the theft is internal, the perpetrator is able
to cover up the loss, resulting in it not being
discovered for a long period of time.
Internal loss is
the result of a combination of factors:
. ease of accessibility to business assets
. the right opportunity and conditions that
would encourage predisposed employees to steal
. the personal values of the employee
Arocon's loss prevention
program identifies vulnerabilities by analyzing
daily operations and routine procedures. The
company then implements a system of checks and
balances to minimize internal loss. The process
focuses on two elements. The first, the human
element, includes screening employees' motivations
and values through questionnaires and integrity
interviews (including the use of polygraph testing
and/or computer voice stress analyzer when desired/needed).
The second,
the procedural element, includes implementing
procedures that minimize asset accessibility
and the opportunity for an employee to contemplate
theft.
As part of the
loss-prevention program, Arocon will:
. Conduct a security assessment to identify
vulnerabilities of business operations
. Prepare a security plan to protect the business
facility, assets and employees against loss
. Assist with the implementation of the security
plan
. Implement policies that will prevent
manipulation of business assets by employees
. Ensure that the plan reduces vulnerability
to shrinkage, loss and incidents of theft
